Vinh Airport (VII)

Vinh International Airport (VII/VVVH) operates as a modern Level 4E aviation facility serving Nghe An Province and north-central Vietnam, strategically positioned approximately 6-8 kilometers north of Vinh City following a comprehensive VND 1 trillion ($40 million) renovation program completed in late 2024. The airport functions as both a civilian and military facility, designed to accommodate up to 3.5 million passengers annually by 2030 while serving as the primary aviation gateway for the culturally significant and economically important north-central coastal region.

The passenger terminal spans 11,706 square meters across two levels, featuring four boarding gates and comprehensive processing capabilities including 28 check-in counters organized into Zone A (counters 1-14) serving Vietnam Airlines and Vasco flights, and Zone B (counters 15-28) serving Pacific Airlines and Vietjet Air operations. The first floor houses arrival facilities with immigration counters and baggage claim areas featuring two carousels, while the second floor contains departure gates and isolation waiting areas designed for efficient passenger flow and modern aviation security requirements.

Infrastructure capabilities include a 2,400-meter by 45-meter runway supported by three taxiways and a 39,000-square-meter apron with seven aircraft parking positions, enabling operations for various aircraft types serving both domestic routes to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as expanding international connectivity. Terminal amenities encompass 24/7 emergency medical services, free Wi-Fi, complimentary drinking water, shopping areas, and food court facilities, all integrated within comprehensive security systems including anti-terrorism measures, fire safety, and continuous monitoring capabilities.

Operational enhancement following the major upgrade program has significantly improved the airport's capacity and service quality, positioning it as a vital transportation hub for tourists visiting north-central Vietnam's historical sites, coastal destinations, and inland provincial attractions. The facility's dual-use military-civilian character reflects its strategic importance in Vietnam's national aviation network, while ground transportation connectivity to Vinh City center ensures efficient access for travelers continuing to regional destinations throughout Nghe An Province.
