Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN)

Tan Son Nhat International Airport operates with two main terminals handling Vietnam's highest passenger volumes, often experiencing significant congestion during peak periods. Terminal 1 serves domestic flights with streamlined check-in facilities designed for quick processing of domestic routes, security screening optimized for domestic travel requirements, departure gates clustered around central areas with basic amenities including local food courts, shops selling Vietnamese products, and limited lounge facilities primarily serving frequent domestic travelers.

Terminal 2 handles all international traffic and serves as the primary hub for Vietnam Airlines, featuring extensive check-in facilities with dedicated counters for various international carriers, comprehensive security screening with multiple lanes often experiencing delays during peak hours, immigration processing with separate lines for Vietnamese citizens and foreign visitors, customs facilities designed for international arrivals with duty-free allowances, expansive duty-free shopping areas featuring international brands and Vietnamese specialty products like coffee and handicrafts, diverse dining options ranging from Vietnamese pho and spring rolls to international fast food and sit-down restaurants, multiple lounges including Vietnam Airlines' premium facilities and shared-use lounges, and passenger services including currency exchange, SIM card vendors, medical facilities, and information desks staffed with English-speaking personnel.

Terminal 3 opened in April 2025 as the airport's new domestic facility, shifting major Vietnam Airlines domestic traffic away from the older buildings and adding its own check-in halls, gates, and road access. Because T3 sits well away from Terminals 1 and 2, passengers need to factor in shuttle time and possible curbside traffic when making self-managed domestic or international connections.
