Owned and operated exclusively by Korean Air, the airport functions as a world-class flight training center rather than a traditional commercial passenger hub. It serves as a critical training ground for the airline's future pilots and students from Korea Aerospace University, providing a controlled environment for a wide range of flight maneuvers and technical certifications.

The airport's technical infrastructure is remarkably advanced for a private training site, featuring two primary runways.
