Faresmaathoda Airport (FMT) is a newly inaugurated domestic aviation facility located in the Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll of the Maldives. Officially opened in March 2023, the airport represents a significant milestone in the national effort to enhance inter-atoll connectivity and support the burgeoning tourism industry in the southern Maldives. The airport's infrastructure includes a 1,200-meter asphalt runway, taxiway, and apron, all designed to accommodate domestic aircraft such as ATR-72 turboprops and smaller private jets, while being fully equipped for nighttime operations.

The passenger terminal at Faresmaathoda features a unique architectural design inspired by the 'Odiharuge,' a traditional Maldivian hut-like structure. This modern and air-conditioned facility offers a comfortable environment for travelers, housing essential amenities such as check-in counters, a waiting lounge, and baggage claim areas. Scheduled commercial services at FMT are primarily provided by Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives. Regular domestic flights connect Faresmaathoda directly to Velana International Airport (MLE) in Malé, as well as to other regional hubs like Kaadedhdhoo. These flights are essential for the local community, facilitating the rapid transport of passengers, mail, and medical supplies. For tourists, the airport provides a fast and convenient alternative to long speedboat journeys, offering spectacular aerial views of the deep southern atolls and their pristine coral formations.
