Po Airport (PUP)

Pô Airport (PUP) is a primary regional aviation hub serving the town of Pô and the Nahouri Province in southern Burkina Faso, located approximately 87 miles (140 km) south of the national capital, Ouagadougou. The airport functions as a functional regional landing ground and does not feature a large commercial passenger terminal building; instead, it operates through basic administrative facilities designed to support general aviation, government missions, and private charters. It acts as a critical infrastructure link, situated near the international border with Ghana and providing a vital base for regional security and ecological missions.

The terminal infrastructure is modest and focused on essential transit services, providing a simple waiting area and administrative space for flight coordination. While the building lacks modern commercial amenities such as retail shops, full-service restaurants, or private VIP lounges, it offers a secure and streamlined environment for pilots and passengers transitioning to the country's southern interior. Travelers are strongly encouraged to handle significant financial and dining needs in the Pô town center prior to arrival at the field, as on-site services are extremely limited and tailored for low-traffic operations.

The airfield features a single 3,460-foot unpaved dirt runway (10/28) situated at an elevation of approximately 1,056 feet above sea level. Ground transportation to central Pô is informal, with visitors typically utilizing local private vehicle transfers or 'moto-taxis' to reach the nearby administrative districts. A unique feature of the facility's location is its role as a strategic starting point for eco-tourists heading to the world-renowned Nazinga Game Ranch or the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Tiébélé Royal Court, famous for its traditional painted Kassena architecture.
