Lampedusa Airport (LMP), also known as Aeroporto di Lampedusa, is a modern regional aviation facility serving the southernmost island of Italy in the Mediterranean Sea. The current passenger terminal, inaugurated in 2012, is renowned for its striking architectural design that resembles the hull of a ship, intended to blend with the island's maritime heritage. The airport operates from a single, compact passenger terminal building that efficiently handles both domestic year-round traffic and seasonal international charters. The terminal building provides a range of essential amenities designed for passenger comfort and ease of navigation. Inside the public hall, travelers have access to a café-bar serving Italian pastries, coffee, and light meals, alongside a small retail shop specializing in local Sicilian products and travel essentials. The facility features eight check-in desks and four security channels, ensuring quick processing times even during the busy summer season. Amenities also include free high-speed Wi-Fi, a lost and found office, and full accessibility features for passengers with reduced mobility. Due to its island location, the terminal maintains a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Ground transportation from the LMP terminal is exceptionally convenient, as the airport is located just over one kilometer from the main town center of Lampedusa. A taxi rank is situated directly outside the arrivals hall, and local bus lines provide regular connections to the town and various scenic beaches during the peak season. For those traveling light, the town is also accessible via a 15-minute walk. As a primary gateway for carriers such as ITA Airways and Volotea, the airport provides frequent links to major Italian cities including Rome, Milan, and Palermo.
