Kirovograd Airport (KGO)

Kropyvnytskyi Airport (KGO), formerly known as Kirovograd Airport, is a significant regional aviation facility serving the Kirovohrad Oblast in central Ukraine. As of early 2026, while civilian air traffic across Ukraine remains restricted, the airport continues to maintain its role as a critical hub for the State Flight Academy of Ukraine and a base for specialized regional carriers like Air Urga. The facility features two distinct passenger terminal buildings: a modern international terminal covering 500 square meters and an older, larger domestic terminal of approximately 900 square meters. The airport's layout is organized into specialized zones to manage different types of aviation activity. The international terminal, inaugurated in 2010, is designed for low-volume processing with a capacity of 50 passengers per hour, featuring dedicated customs and immigration areas. The larger domestic terminal serves as the primary hub for administrative offices and waiting areas. The infrastructure includes a 1,301-meter asphalt/concrete runway (15/33) and an expansive apron area designed to support medium-sized regional aircraft such as the An-24, Saab 340, and Yak-40 jets. Amenities within the Kropyvnytskyi terminal are focused on functional efficiency for regional and cadet travelers. Under normal operations, the facility provides basic seating halls, ticket reservation counters, and a small café-buffet serving hot beverages and snacks. The airport is deeply integrated with the neighboring State Flight Academy, housing specialized simulator centers and student briefing rooms. While modern commercial services like Duty-Free are limited due to the airport's scale, the facility provides free Wi-Fi and clean sanitation services for authorized personnel and charter passengers. Ground transportation at KGO is well-integrated with the city's urban area, located just 4 kilometers north-northeast of the Kropyvnytskyi city center. Travelers can easily access the town via local taxi services or pre-arranged private hires, with a typical journey time of approximately 10 to 15 minutes. While municipal buses connect the airport area to the central district, service frequency is often tied to the academy's operational hours. For those arriving by private vehicle, unmanaged parking is available directly in front of the terminal buildings.
