Gusti Syamsir Alam Airport (KBU), formerly known as Stagen Airport, is a domestic aviation facility located on Laut Island, serving the town of Kotabaru in South Kalimantan, Indonesia. As a regional gateway, the airport provides a vital air link between this island regency and major hubs on mainland Borneo, particularly Banjarmasin. The facility is set within a coastal environment, offering passengers a unique arrival experience as they descend over the Java Sea and the lush landscapes of Laut Island.

The airport features a modern passenger terminal that was significantly expanded in 2018, increasing its total area to approximately 1,692 square meters. This upgrade was designed to improve passenger comfort and handle the growing volume of domestic travelers. The terminal layout is straightforward and efficient, with all operations housed on a single level. It includes a spacious check-in hall, a secure security screening zone, and a large departure waiting lounge. A separate VIP building is also located on the airport grounds to serve government officials and special guests.

Amenities within the Gusti Syamsir Alam terminal cater to the needs of domestic travelers while reflecting local hospitality. Passengers can find several small cafes and local eateries, known as warungs, serving traditional Indonesian dishes and refreshments. The retail section includes kiosks selling travel essentials, snacks, and local souvenirs from South Kalimantan. For families, the expanded departure area now includes a dedicated children's playground. The terminal is also equipped with modern accessibility features, including escalators and improved facilities for passengers with limited mobility.

Ground transportation at KBU is well-regulated and provides easy access to the Kotabaru city center, located approximately 10 kilometers away. Licensed taxis and local transport options are readily available outside the terminal exit, with a typical journey time of about 20 minutes. Most commercial flights are operated by Wings Air using ATR 72 aircraft, which are well-suited for the airport's 1,650-meter runway. Travelers are generally advised to arrive at least 90 minutes before their scheduled departure to account for check-in and security procedures, which are known for being fast and efficient due to the airport's compact design.
