Al-Ahsa International Airport (HOF), also known as Hofuf Airport, is a modernized and strategically important aviation facility serving the Al-Ahsa Governorate in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province. Located approximately 17 kilometers southwest of the historic city of Hofuf, the airport serves as a vital gateway for the region's agricultural, industrial, and heritage tourism sectors. Following a major expansion project completed in April 2024, the airport has tripled its passenger capacity to accommodate up to 2 million travelers annually. The facility now covers over 58,000 square meters, featuring a state-of-the-art terminal that seamlessly integrates domestic and international operations to support the growing demand for connectivity in the Kingdom's eastern region. The newly expanded terminal building is designed with a focus on high-efficiency and passenger comfort. The layout includes two dedicated international halls and a total of 10 departure and arrival gates. The interior is characterized by its modern Saudi architectural influences, offering spacious check-in areas equipped with digital self-service kiosks and advanced baggage handling systems. The terminal's intuitive design ensures that the transition from the entrance to the boarding zones is streamlined, with centralized security and immigration points. Because of its recent modernization, the facility provides a world-class travel experience that rivals larger international hubs while maintaining the convenience and personalized service of a regional airport. Facilities at Al-Ahsa International are comprehensive and tailored to the needs of modern global travelers. The terminal features multiple passenger lounges, including dedicated areas for premium class travelers, offering comfortable seating, refreshments, and business services. Essential amenities such as currency exchange offices, high-speed free Wi-Fi, and various retail outlets and snack bars are conveniently located throughout the airside and landside zones. The airport also provides extensive ground transportation infrastructure, including a large car park with space for 250 vehicles and dedicated taxi stands.
