Geita Airport (GIT), also known as Mchauru Airport, is a modern regional aviation facility serving the Geita and Chato regions of northwestern Tanzania. Officially inaugurated in early 2021, the airport represents a significant investment by the Tanzanian government to improve connectivity in this important mining and agricultural area. Strategically located near the shores of Lake Victoria, the airport provides a vital link for the region's gold mining industry and serves as a gateway for tourists visiting the nearby Rubondo Island National Park and other attractions in the Lake Zone. The passenger terminal at Geita Airport is a state-of-the-art facility designed to offer a modern and comfortable experience for travelers. The terminal provides a comprehensive range of amenities including efficient baggage handling systems, currency exchange services, ATMs, and even shower facilities.
