Grootfontein Airport (GFY) is a significant joint civil-military aviation facility located in the Otjozondjupa Region of northern Namibia. Situated just north of the town of Grootfontein, the airport is home to the Grootfontein Air Force Base, a major installation for the Namibian Air Force. The facility maintains a substantial 3,560-meter main runway—one of the longest in the country—which was originally expanded by the South African Air Force. Today, it serves as a critical strategic asset for both national defense and regional connectivity.
