Eindhoven Airport (EIN)

Eindhoven Airport (EIN) is the second largest airport in the Netherlands and a primary hub for low-cost carriers in the Benelux region. The airport is currently undergoing a massive 12,000-square-meter terminal expansion project, which broke ground in late 2024 and is scheduled for completion by mid-2027. This modernization is designed to increase the airport's capacity to over 7 million passengers annually, featuring a completely gas-free facility with sustainable innovations such as 1,100 solar panels and a rainwater collection system for internal use. The terminal building is organized for high-efficiency flow, with departures and security on the first floor and arrivals on the ground level. The expansion will significantly enlarge the non-Schengen area and the arrivals hall, increasing the number of baggage belts to four. Travelers can find a wide variety of amenities, including several cafes, a duty-free shop, and a 'Tulip Inn' hotel located directly above the terminal building. The facility also features a large covered parking structure connected to the terminal, and a spacious outdoor plaza with additional dining and retail options. Major carriers at EIN include Ryanair, Wizz Air, and Transavia, providing frequent links to over 80 destinations across Europe and North Africa. The airport is particularly popular as a less congested alternative to Amsterdam Schiphol. Ground transportation is well-served by the 'AirExpressBus' and local bus lines 400 and 401, which connect the terminal to Eindhoven Central Station in about 20 minutes. Travelers should be aware that while construction is ongoing, all major services remain operational, though a five-month closure for runway maintenance is planned for early 2027.
