Zhanjiang Wuchuan Airport (ZHA)

Zhanjiang Wuchuan International Airport operates from a spacious modern terminal building covering over 60,000 square meters, representing one of the largest and most advanced airport facilities in western Guangdong Province. Officially renamed to reflect its international status in February 2024, this Class 4E facility opened in March 2022 to replace the older Xiashan airport, featuring contemporary design with efficient passenger flow management and comprehensive amenities. The two-level terminal building accommodates 5.1 million annual passengers through well-organized departure and arrival areas.

The terminal's first level efficiently handles international and domestic arrivals with modern baggage claim facilities, immigration processing areas, and customs clearance zones for international passengers. The second level focuses on departures, featuring 30 aircraft stands including 17 contact gates and 13 remote stands, all connected through climate-controlled jet bridges and modern boarding systems. Self-check-in kiosks are strategically located throughout the terminal, complemented by traditional check-in counters operated by China Southern Airlines, Air China, and Hainan Airlines.

Passenger amenities reflect the airport's status as western Guangdong's primary aviation gateway, including diverse dining options featuring local Cantonese cuisine alongside international restaurants and cafes. Retail facilities encompass duty-free shops, souvenir outlets, travel essentials stores, and ATMs distributed throughout both levels. Multiple passenger lounges provide premium services including VIP lounges and business lounges offering comfortable seating, complimentary Wi-Fi, refreshments, and quiet spaces for work or relaxation.

The terminal's modern infrastructure supports both domestic and international operations with advanced security screening systems, efficient baggage handling technology, and comprehensive flight information displays in multiple languages. Climate control systems maintain comfort throughout the facility's expansive spaces, while natural lighting through large windows creates an open, welcoming atmosphere. The airport's strategic location 35 kilometers from downtown Zhanjiang necessitates integrated ground transportation coordination through dedicated areas within the terminal building, supporting the facility's role as a regional hub connecting western Guangdong to major Chinese cities and international destinations.
