The two-level terminal features a Departures Hall on the second floor and Arrivals Hall on the first floor, equipped with four boarding bridges serving both domestic (Gates 1-3 plus VIP) and international operations (Gates 4-7), providing essential connectivity for this unique tri-border region near North Korea and Russia. The facility accommodates Korean cultural influences reflecting the autonomous prefecture's distinctive character, with signage and services designed for the significant Korean Chinese population alongside standard Chinese aviation protocols.

The airport infrastructure supports operations on a 2,600-meter by 45-meter runway capable of accommodating regional and short-haul international aircraft, with 11 aircraft stands ensuring adequate parking and maneuvering space for both passenger and cargo operations. Terminal amenities include restaurants serving both Chinese and Korean cuisine, duty-free shops, passenger lounges, and specialized facilities designed for international border region travel requiring enhanced documentation verification and security procedures. The facility processed 1.3 million passengers with remarkable 312.4% year-over-year growth, including 200,000 international passengers representing 32.4% of total traffic, ranking second nationally behind Shanghai Pudong for international passenger percentage.

Strategically vital as the aviation hub for the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, the airport serves 18 domestic destinations including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chengdu, alongside 6 international routes connecting to 5 South Korean cities (Seoul, Muan, Busan, Cheongju, Daegu) and Vladivostok, Russia. The terminal supports cross-border economic activities, cultural exchanges, and tourism throughout this mountainous northeastern region where severe winter conditions with temperatures below -25°C, heavy snowfall, and strong winds can significantly impact flight operations from November through March.
