Tirana International Airport Nënë Tereza (TIA)

Tirana International Airport Nënë Tereza (LATI) is Albania's premier aviation gateway, located 6 nautical miles northwest of Tirana in the municipality of Krujë, Durrës County. As Albania's largest airport and one of the busiest in the Balkans, it achieved the remarkable milestone of surpassing 10 million passengers in 2024. The airport serves as a hub for Wizz Air and welcomes most of Europe's major airlines including Aegean Airlines, Air Albania, ITA Airways, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, easyJet, Lufthansa, Pegasus Airlines, and Turkish Airlines.

The airport features a modern passenger terminal designed by Malaysian architect Hin Tan, encompassing 100,000 square meters upon completion of ongoing expansion projects. The terminal building houses comprehensive facilities including duty-free shopping, restaurants, cafes, currency exchange services, ATMs, passenger lounges, free WiFi throughout, charging stations, and comfortable waiting areas. The terminal is efficiently organized with both domestic and international sections, ensuring smooth passenger flow and processing. For the first time in Albania, a dedicated VIP terminal provides premium private services for discerning travelers.

Tirana International Airport operates with a single 2,750-meter (9,009-foot) asphalt runway capable of accommodating wide-body aircraft including the Airbus A330 and Boeing 787. This runway specification supports operations ranging from small regional jets to large international aircraft, enabling transoceanic service capabilities. The airport infrastructure includes 29 aircraft parking stands, advanced security technology, cargo facilities, aircraft maintenance areas, and a General Aviation Terminal (GAT) serving private and business jets.

During busy periods, procedural holding of approximately 10 minutes may be expected, though the airport maintains efficient operations with instrument approach capabilities. The facility's strategic location and modern infrastructure make it an essential transportation hub for the Balkans region, connecting Albania to destinations across Europe and beyond while supporting the country's growing tourism and business sectors.
