Palanga International Airport (PLQ) is the primary aviation gateway to the Lithuanian Baltic coast, serving the popular resort of Palanga and the major port city of Klaipėda. The airport operates from a single, modern passenger terminal that was significantly expanded with the addition of the North Terminal in 2007, designed to handle both Schengen and non-Schengen traffic with high efficiency. It acts as a critical infrastructure link, connecting western Lithuania to major European hubs like Copenhagen, Riga, and London via regular scheduled services by airBaltic, Ryanair, and SAS. The terminal infrastructure provides a variety of essential amenities across its single-level layout, including a quiet business lounge available for a fee and free unlimited high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the complex. Travelers have access to multiple cafés and a snack bar, alongside specialized retail outlets selling local amber jewelry and traditional Lithuanian souvenirs. Following a €750,000 investment in late 2024, the facility now features advanced smart climate control systems and a protective exterior glass canopy, ensuring a comfortable environment for passengers transitioning between the terminal and the aircraft. Ground transportation to central Palanga, located approximately 4 miles (7 km) to the south, is well-supported by local bus routes 100 and 101, which provide a 10 to 15-minute link to the town center. Official taxi services are readily available outside the arrivals hall, and several major car rental agencies like Europcar and Sixt maintain desks directly within the terminal for those exploring the Curonian Spit.
