Oiapoque Airport (OYK)

Oiapoque Airport (OYK) is a regional aviation hub serving the municipality of Oiapoque in the state of Amapá, Brazil, located near the border with French Guiana. Following a major modernization in 2022, the airport features a new 1,110-square-meter modular passenger terminal (MOP) designed to handle up to 500 travelers daily. It acts as a critical infrastructure link for this remote northern region, which is often difficult to access via the BR-156 highway. The terminal infrastructure provides a variety of amenities, including air-conditioned boarding and disembarking halls, dedicated check-in counters, and a modern baggage carousel for arrivals. Travelers have access to designated areas for small shops and food services, and the facility is equipped with thermal and acoustic insulation to improve passenger comfort. The airport also maintains a secure parking area located directly in front of the terminal entrance. Operationally, the airport features a 3,937-foot (1,200m) asphalt runway (03/21) equipped with night lighting, allowing for 24-hour emergency operations and medical evacuations. It is primarily served by regional charters and technical flights, with Azul Brazilian Airlines exploring regular commercial links to the state capital, Macapá. Ground transportation to central Oiapoque, approximately 4 miles (7 km) away, is well-supported by local taxi services and private transfers.
