Omidiyeh Airport (OMI)

Omidiyeh Air Base (OMI) is a primary military installation located in the Khuzestan Province of Iran. Serving as a key base for the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF), the facility does not operate a standard civilian passenger terminal. Its infrastructure is optimized for air defense and military logistics, rather than commercial passenger transit, and it lacks standard amenities such as public lounges or retail shops. The airfield is equipped with two substantial asphalt runways, with the longest measuring 13,500 feet (4,115m), making it capable of handling heavy military and transport aircraft. While it provides essential technical support for authorized government and military flights, it is not an official Airport of Entry (AOE). International arrivals and civilian flights must generally utilize nearby regional hubs like Ahvaz International Airport (AWZ). Operationally, the base requires Prior Permission Required (PPR) and strict military authorization for any non-military aircraft wishing to use the field. The facility is strategically significant for the regional air defense command in southwestern Iran and has historically hosted various fighter detachments. Due to its sensitive nature, access to the base is strictly controlled, and standard commercial services like check-in counters and baggage claim are not available.
