Namibe Airport (MSZ), officially known as Welwitschia Mirabilis International Airport, is a premier aviation facility serving the coastal city of Namibe in the Namibe Province of southwestern Angola. The airport underwent a comprehensive multi-million dollar modernization project in 2013, which transformed it into one of the most modern regional hubs in the country. This redevelopment was strategically designed to support the province's growing tourism and fishing industries, as well as to provide a high-efficiency alternative to the national capital, Luanda, for both domestic and international logistics.

The airport infrastructure features two distinct passenger terminals and a dedicated cargo facility, collectively designed to handle a peak throughput of up to 400 passengers per hour. The main passenger terminals offer a modernized traveler experience, featuring streamlined check-in counters, updated security zones, and comfortable waiting areas that provide essential amenities for both arrivals and departures. Technical operations are centered around a robust 2,500-meter asphalt runway (08/26) capable of accommodating large narrow-body aircraft such as the Boeing 737 series, which are frequently utilized by the national carrier, TAAG Angola Airlines, to connect Namibe with Luanda and other regional centers.

Strategically, MSZ serves as the primary gateway for visitors exploring the unique natural wonders of the Namibe desert, including the rare Welwitschia Mirabilis plant for which the airport is named. Ground transportation to the city center and the nearby Atlantic coastline is readily available via official taxi ranks and private vehicle transfers, with the commute typically taking about 10 to 15 minutes.
