Maquinchao Airport (MQD), also known as SAVQ, is a critical regional aviation facility situated on the northern edge of the town of Maquinchao in Argentina's Río Negro Province. Positioned at an elevation of 2,910 feet on the vast Patagonian plateau, the airport serves as a developmental (fomento) hub, providing essential connectivity for isolated communities where commercial profitability is low but social necessity is high. Maquinchao itself is famously known as the 'Capital of Wool,' and the airport plays a supportive role in the region's prominent sheep-farming industry and government logistics.

The airfield features a rugged infrastructure centered around two unpaved grass runways, designated 08/26 (1,172 meters) and 06/24 (1,146 meters). The passenger terminal is a modest, functional structure designed for small-scale operations rather than high-volume transit.
