Faisalabad International Airport (LYP) serves as the critical 'golden gateway' to Pakistan's premier textile hub, often referred to as the Manchester of Pakistan. Situated approximately 10 kilometers southwest of the city center along Jhang Road, the airport occupies a strategic position for international trade and the regional economy. Its primary 9,272-foot asphalt runway is equipped with Category-I ILS, primarily facilitating a robust network of flights to major Middle Eastern hubs such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha, which provide essential connectivity for the region's vast diaspora and business delegations. The passenger terminal is a compact and efficient single-building facility designed to manage both domestic and international traffic under one roof. Inside, travelers have access to high-quality amenities tailored for professional and frequent flyers, including dedicated VIP and CIP (Commercial Important Person) lounges that provide a quiet retreat with business services and refreshments. The terminal also houses essential traveler facilities such as currency exchange bureaus, prayer rooms, and a selection of small retail kiosks offering traditional Faisalabadi handicrafts and travel essentials. The facility provides a streamlined environment that reflects the city's status as a major industrial and commercial center. Currently, the airport is entering a transformational phase, with the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) initiating a comprehensive master plan for a completely new international airport facility. This multi-year expansion project, which began the feasibility stage in late 2025, aims to significantly increase passenger capacity and establish a dedicated cargo complex to support the city's massive textile export volume. Ground transportation to the urban core is well-supported by on-site taxi ranks and local shuttle bus services, with a typical commute to downtown hotels taking about 20 to 30 minutes. Arriving at the terminal at least three hours before an international flight is recommended to ensure smooth transit through the airport's modern security and immigration protocols.
