Lanai Airport (LNY) is a unique and charming regional aviation facility situated approximately 3.4 miles southwest of Lanai City on the island of Lanai, Hawaii. As the only airport serving the island, it operates from a single passenger terminal building designed with a tropical, open-air aesthetic that allows for natural ventilation and a relaxed island atmosphere. The facility handles all domestic inter-island flights and specialized luxury charters, providing an exceptionally easy-to-navigate environment for travelers. The terminal building features a straightforward layout, with the check-in counters located on the right side of the main hall and a central waiting area that offers views of the airfield. Amenities at the terminal are basic but functional, including a small snack bar and café in the landside public area where travelers can enjoy light refreshments and drinks. The facility is equipped with clean restrooms and several seating areas featuring integrated charging ports for mobile devices. Security screening is typically very fast due to the low passenger volume, often taking only a few minutes from check-in to boarding. Ground transportation from the LNY terminal is well-facilitated, with rental car counters located directly within the complex and pre-arranged hotel shuttles, particularly for the Four Seasons Resort Lanai, frequently meeting arriving flights. Travelers should note that there is no public bus system on the island, so arranging for a taxi or shuttle in advance is highly recommended. As a primary gateway for carriers such as Mokulele Airlines and Lanai Air, the airport provides essential links to Honolulu (HNL) and Kahului (OGG).
