Zafer Airport (KZR)

Zafer Airport (KZR), identified by its ICAO code LTBZ, is a regional aviation facility located in Altıntaş, serving the three neighboring provinces of Kütahya, Afyonkarahisar, and Uşak in Turkey. Inaugurated in 2012 as Turkey's first regional airport, it operates from a modern, 17,600-square-meter integrated passenger terminal designed to handle both domestic and international traffic. The facility features a single 3,000-meter concrete runway (12/30), capable of accommodating narrow-body and medium-haul jet aircraft. The terminal building provides a range of essential amenities, including 19 check-in counters and four departure gates to ensure efficient passenger flow. Inside, travelers can access a cafeteria for refreshments, a small retail area, and dedicated prayer rooms. For international rotations, the facility houses a duty-free shop and specialized customs and immigration counters. Despite its high design capacity of 2 million passengers annually, the airport primarily manages a select schedule of domestic flights to Istanbul and seasonal international charter services, particularly catering to the regional diaspora. Ground transportation is well-supported by local taxi services and private vehicle access, with a 150-car parking facility situated directly in front of the terminal entrance. The airport is positioned approximately 45 kilometers from Kütahya, 60 kilometers from Afyonkarahisar, and 100 kilometers from Uşak, acting as a central node for the Phrygian Valley and the region's prominent thermal tourism centers. As of 2025, the facility continues to receive technical maintenance and minor service updates to maintain its status as a critical, albeit underutilized, node within Turkey's national aviation network.
