Kanpur Airport (KNU), designated VECX and officially known as Kanpur Civil Enclave, operates as a modern domestic aviation facility serving Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, positioned at coordinates 26.404°N, 80.410°E in the heart of India's most populous state and one of the country's major industrial centers. This strategically important airport underwent a remarkable transformation with the inauguration of a spectacular new terminal building on May 26, 2023, by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, representing a Rs. 150 crore investment that created a facility 16 times larger than the previous terminal and capable of handling 400 passengers during peak hours compared to only 50 passengers previously. The upgraded facility serves as the primary aviation gateway for Kanpur, India's largest city in Uttar Pradesh and a major industrial hub known for leather, textiles, and manufacturing industries that drive regional economic development.
