LBJ Ranch Airport (JCY), located within the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park in Stonewall, Texas, is a site of significant American political and aviation history. Originally established by President Lyndon B. Johnson to allow him to manage the affairs of state from his beloved ranch, the facility became known as the "Texas White House" during his presidency. The airport stands today as a preserved testament to the 36th President's unique style of governance and his deep connection to the Texas Hill Country.

The airport's technical infrastructure was substantially upgraded during the 1960s to support presidential operations, evolving from a modest 3,000-foot grass strip into a robust 6,291-foot asphalt runway. Because the runway was too short for the standard Boeing 707 Air Force One, the President would transfer to a smaller Lockheed VC-140B Jetstar—which he affectionately dubbed "Air Force One-Half"—for the final leg of the journey from Austin or San Antonio. This aircraft is now a featured exhibit on permanent display near the original landing zone.

In its contemporary role, the airport facility has been repurposed to serve as a major educational and visitor hub. The original airplane hangar, built around 1959, now functions as the LBJ Ranch District Visitor Center, where guests can explore detailed exhibits on the President's life, watch informative park films, and browse a dedicated bookstore. The historic taxiway has been converted into a parking area for visitors, forming an integral part of the seven-mile self-guided driving tour through the ranch, which includes the President's birthplace and the family cemetery.

For modern aviation enthusiasts and pilots, it is important to note that JCY is no longer an active commercial or standard public-use airport. While it appears on aeronautical charts, landing at the ranch is restricted and requires prior permission from the National Park Service, typically reserved for official or government business. There are no on-site aeronautical services such as fuel, maintenance, or ground handling, as the primary mission of the facility is now the preservation of its cultural and historical heritage for the thousands of tourists who visit the National Historical Park annually.
