Hisar Airport (HSS)

Hisar Airport (HSS), officially known as Maharaja Agrasen International Airport, is currently undergoing a massive multi-phase transformation to become a major international aviation hub in Haryana, India. The existing domestic terminal serves as the interim facility while a state-of-the-art international terminal (Terminal 1) is under construction, spanning over 41,000 square meters. The new terminal is designed to accommodate up to 1,000 peak-hour passengers and will feature 24 check-in counters, modern baggage handling systems, and advanced security screening technology. Inside the current terminal, facilities are focused on the comfort of regional domestic travelers. Passengers have access to a comfortable waiting lounge, basic dining options offering local and national refreshments, and essential administrative services. The airport development plan includes the addition of luxury lounges, a larger retail and duty-free zone, and a dedicated business center to support its future role as a primary alternative to Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. The facility is also set to host an aerospace university and a multi-modal logistics hub, reflecting its significance to the regional economy. Navigating the airport is becoming more complex as the site expands across its 7,200-acre footprint. Currently, all passenger movements are concentrated in the domestic zone, which is easily accessible from the main airport road. The airfield boasts a recently extended 3,000-meter runway (12/30) equipped with Cat-II landing systems, allowing it to handle large narrow-body aircraft like the Airbus A321. Ground transportation to Hisar city center and nearby industrial areas is well-supported by local taxis and pre-arranged shuttle services, with plans for improved rail and highway connectivity in the coming years.
