Zhayrem Airport (HRC), also known as Sary Su Airport, is a regional aviation facility located in the Ulytau Region of Kazakhstan. The airport features a small, functional terminal building primarily designed to serve the logistical needs of the Zhayrem mining and processing complex, one of the largest industrial sites in the country. The terminal architecture is straightforward, providing essential facilities for mining personnel, specialized contractors, and regional administrative traffic. Inside the terminal, amenities are focused on the core requirements of domestic transit. Passengers have access to a modest waiting hall and basic check-in services for charter and regional flights. Due to the airport's primary role as an industrial support hub, there are no extensive retail or dining facilities on-site. Travelers are encouraged to arrange for any necessary supplies in the nearby town of Zhayrem or the larger regional center of Karaganda before arriving at the field. The arrivals area is integrated into the main building, facilitating quick baggage retrieval for the small number of daily operations. Navigating the airport is exceptionally simple due to its compact and intuitive design. The airfield features a paved runway capable of handling regional turboprop and small jet aircraft, serving as a vital link for the transport of high-value industrial equipment and medical evacuations. Ground transportation to the Zhayrem township and the mining areas is well-coordinated by industrial shuttle services, with local taxis also available for the short trip from the terminal entrance. While commercial flight frequencies may be limited, the airport remains a critical piece of infrastructure for the economic development of central Kazakhstan.
