Hindon Airport / Hindon Air Force Station (HDO)

Hindon Airport (HDO), also known as the civilian enclave at Hindon Air Force Station, is a domestic airport located in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was developed in 2019 under the Indian government's UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) regional connectivity scheme to provide a secondary commercial gateway for the National Capital Region (NCR). By handling regional flights to unserved and underserved cities, Hindon significantly reduces the congestion at Delhi's main Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL). The airport is operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in collaboration with the Indian Air Force, which maintains the primary runway and air traffic control services. The civilian terminal is a modern, pre-engineered building that covers over 5,400 square meters. It is designed to handle up to 300 passengers per hour, ensuring a quick and efficient flow for regional travelers. The layout is simple and climate-controlled, featuring eight check-in counters and two baggage conveyor belts within a single-level structure. Because it is a relatively small and specialized facility, the walking distances between the entrance, check-in, and boarding gates are very short, often taking less than five minutes. The terminal's design focuses on simplicity and speed, catering to the needs of busy regional commuters and business travelers. Facilities at Hindon Airport are tailored to provide a comfortable and convenient experience for domestic passengers. The terminal is equipped with essential amenities, including free Wi-Fi, numerous charging stations, and clean restrooms with RO drinking water. Dining options include a cafeteria and several food stalls offering local Indian snacks and beverages. While there are no large-scale duty-free shops or dedicated business lounges, the spacious waiting areas provide ample seating and a quiet atmosphere. Additional services such as a medical center, a souvenir shop, and a dedicated help desk ensure that travelers have access to assistance during their time at the airport.
