Hubli Airport (HBX), officially known as Hubballi Airport, is a significant domestic aviation hub serving the twin cities of Hubli and Dharwad in the North Karnataka region of India. Located approximately 8 kilometers from Hubli city center on Gokul Road, the airport is a vital link for the region's commercial, educational, and textile sectors. Recognized for its commitment to sustainability, the airport is largely powered by an 8-megawatt solar plant, making it one of the leading eco-friendly airports in the country. It serves as a major gateway for business travelers heading to the industrial corridors of Karnataka and for tourists visiting the historic sites of Hampi and Badami. The airport currently operates from a modern, integrated passenger terminal that efficiently manages all domestic arrivals and departures under one roof. The centrally air-conditioned building covers 3,600 square meters and is designed to handle up to 300 passengers during peak hours. The layout is intuitive, featuring clearly separated zones for check-in, security screening, and baggage claim. To meet the rapidly growing demand, a massive expansion project is currently underway, which will include a new 20,000-square-meter terminal with aerobridges and an increased capacity of over 1,400 passengers per hour, positioning Hubli for potential international status in the future. Facilities at Hubli Airport are comprehensive and designed for passenger comfort. The terminal includes a variety of cafés and snack bars, such as the Good TIMES Lounge, which offers a selection of local and international dishes in a relaxed environment.
