Golden Triangle Regional Airport (GTR) is a vital aviation hub serving the 'Golden Triangle' region of Mississippi, which includes the cities of Columbus, Starkville, and West Point. As a primary gateway for both business and leisure travel, GTR is currently the focus of a significant multi-million dollar terminal expansion project designed to modernize the facility and better accommodate the growing number of annual travelers. The airport features a single, compact integrated passenger terminal building that is efficiently organized across two main levels. The first floor manages all landside arrivals, including the check-in counters, baggage claim carousels, and ground transportation exits. The second floor houses the security screening zone and departure boarding gates, ensuring a straightforward and intuitive flow for all passengers. The terminal's design prioritizes ease of movement, with all services centrally located to minimize walking distances. The airfield operates with a robust 8,000-foot runway, capable of accommodating a wide variety of commercial narrow-body aircraft utilized by major carriers. Amenities at GTR are tailored to provide a comfortable pre-flight experience for the regional traveler. The terminal houses the airside Propeller Restaurant & Bar, which offers a selection of classic American dishes and refreshments for those waiting on flights. A specialized retail shop is also available, providing passengers with the opportunity to purchase travel essentials, newspapers, and local Mississippi souvenirs.
