Florence Regional Airport (FLO)

Florence Regional Airport (FLO) is the primary aviation hub for the Pee Dee region of South Carolina, serving the city of Florence and surrounding counties. The airport features a single passenger terminal divided into two concourses (A and B) and is currently guided by a 10-year strategic plan aimed at significant revitalization. A notable recent achievement was the 2024 installation of South Carolina's first electric aircraft charger, positioning the airport as a regional leader in sustainable aviation technology. The terminal building provides a streamlined and user-friendly experience, with ticket counters located at the entrance and a centralized TSA security checkpoint. Within the terminal, travelers can find amenities including a café-bar, several retail kiosks for gifts and travel essentials, and free high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the building. The facility also houses several car rental agencies and a comfortable departures lounge. Ongoing rehabilitation plans for 2025-2027 include the addition of passenger jet bridges and a complete modernization of the check-in and security zones to improve flow and capacity. Commercial air service at FLO is exclusively provided by American Eagle, which operates multiple daily non-stop flights to Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). These flights offer local residents and business travelers seamless access to American Airlines' global network. Ground transportation is well-served by a dedicated taxi rank, and a planned partnership with the Pee Dee Regional Transportation Authority will soon introduce a downtown shuttle service. The airport is conveniently located near the junction of Interstate 95 and Interstate 20, providing easy access to the region's prominent healthcare facilities and industrial centers.
