Northeastern Regional Airport (EDE)

Northeastern Regional Airport (EDE) is a public-use general aviation facility located three miles southeast of the historic town of Edenton in Chowan County, North Carolina. The airport has a significant history, originally serving as a Marine Corps Air Station during World War II before being converted for civilian use. Today, it features a single 6,000-foot asphalt runway (01/19) capable of accommodating large corporate jets and is a popular refueling stop for private aircraft traveling along the East Coast between New England and Florida.

The passenger terminal building provides essential facilities for pilots and visitors, maintaining a classic aeronautical atmosphere with updated modern conveniences. Managed by the Town of Edenton, the terminal includes a comfortable waiting area, flight planning resources, and restroom facilities. The Fixed-Base Operator (FBO) provides professional line services including full-service and 24-hour self-service aviation fuel (100LL and Jet A). The airport also offers hangar space and tie-down rentals, with a new tee-hangar project currently under development to meet growing demand. While the terminal is typically attended during business hours, the facility remains accessible after-hours via standard general aviation procedures.

As a general aviation hub, there are no scheduled commercial airline services at EDE. Travelers using the facility typically arrive via private or chartered aircraft and must arrange ground transportation in advance. Rental car services can be coordinated through local providers for delivery to the terminal, and several taxi and shuttle options serve the Edenton area. The airport's location offers easy access to the scenic Albemarle Sound and is within a short drive of Edenton's historic district. For commercial flight connections, the nearest major hubs are Norfolk International Airport (ORF) in Virginia and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU).
