Ercan International Airport (ECN)

Ercan International Airport (ECN) is the primary aviation gateway to Northern Cyprus, located approximately 13 kilometers east of Nicosia. The airport underwent a massive transformation in July 2023 with the opening of a brand-new, 128,000-square-meter terminal building. This state-of-the-art facility has significantly increased the airport's annual capacity to 10 million passengers, featuring a new 3,000-meter runway capable of accommodating all types of large passenger aircraft. The new terminal replaces the older infrastructure, offering a modern and efficient environment for travelers.

The terminal is equipped with 60 check-in counters and 44 passport control points across two levels, designed to handle high volumes of transit traffic. Within the departures area, passengers can find extensive duty-free shopping, a variety of cafes serving both Turkish and international cuisine, and several premium lounges. The facility also includes 9 jet bridges and 21 open parking positions for aircraft, ensuring streamlined boarding processes. Amenities such as free Wi-Fi, ATMs, and currency exchange services are readily available throughout the building. The airport's design incorporates energy-efficient technology and spacious waiting areas with modern charging stations.

Due to international political status, all flights to and from Ercan must transit through an airport in Turkey. Major carriers such as Turkish Airlines, Pegasus Airlines, and AnadoluJet provide frequent daily links to Istanbul (IST and SAW), Ankara, and Antalya. Ground transportation is well-served by Kibhas airport buses, which connect the terminal to Nicosia, Kyrenia, and Famagusta. Taxis and several international car rental agencies are also available outside the arrivals hall. Travelers are advised to arrive at least two hours before departure and to have their Turkish transit documents or visas ready if applicable.
