Xiangxi Biancheng Airport (ZGXX) serves Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Hunan Province, China, featuring an impressive 11,000-square-meter terminal building that significantly exceeds original planning specifications, positioned in Huayuan County with a 2,600-meter runway and five aircraft stands capable of handling Boeing 738 and Airbus A321 operations. This modern facility represents a 2.9 billion CNY infrastructure investment covering 235 hectares, designed with an annual capacity of 300,000 passenger trips and 450 tons of cargo to serve as a regional transportation hub connecting Hunan, Hubei, Chongqing, and Guizhou provinces. The airport received its operating license from the Civil Aviation Administration of China on August 10, 2023, and commenced operations on August 18 with inaugural flights to Beijing and Guangzhou, marking the historic opening of the first civil aviation airport in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. The substantial terminal facility provides comprehensive passenger services including check-in counters, security processing, departure gates, baggage handling systems, and passenger amenities designed to accommodate both domestic and potential international operations serving this culturally diverse autonomous region.
