Darwaz Airport (DAZ), also identified by its ICAO code OADZ, is a critical regional aviation facility located in the Darwaz District of Badakhshan Province, Afghanistan. Situated in an extremely rugged and mountainous part of the country, the airport is nestled in a narrow valley adjacent to the Panj River, which forms the international border with Tajikistan. Its presence is essential for maintaining connectivity between this isolated district and the provincial capital of Fayzabad and the national capital, Kabul. The airport's physical infrastructure is centered around a single gravel runway designated as 09/27, which measures approximately 2,145 feet (654 meters) in length and 100 feet in width.
