Sir Captain Charles Kirkconnell International Airport (CYB) is the primary aviation gateway to Cayman Brac, the second largest of the Cayman Islands. Formerly known as Gerrard-Smith International Airport until its renaming in 2012, the facility is situated on the southwestern tip of the island, with its runway running parallel to the scenic southern coastline. As an official Airport of Entry for the Cayman Islands, it provides comprehensive customs and immigration services, allowing it to handle both regional domestic hops and direct international arrivals. The airport's infrastructure is anchored by a single asphalt runway, designated as 09/27, which measures approximately 1,848 meters (6,063 feet) in length. This substantial runway allows the airport to accommodate jet aircraft, most notably the Boeing 737 MAX 8 fleet operated by Cayman Airways, which provides vital direct connections to Grand Cayman and Miami. For shorter inter-island hops to Little Cayman, Cayman Airways Express utilizes smaller, rugged aircraft such as the de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter, which are perfectly suited for the region's short-field operations.
