Changsha Huanghua International Airport (CSX)

Changsha Huanghua International Airport (CSX/ZGHA) is the primary aviation hub for Hunan Province, China, and one of the busiest airports in the central region of the country. Located approximately 25 kilometers east of downtown Changsha, the airport serves as a critical gateway for regional and international travel, connecting Hunan with major cities across China, Southeast Asia, and beyond. It is a major base for several Chinese carriers, including China Southern and XiamenAir, and plays a vital role in supporting the province's rapid economic and industrial growth. The airport features a two-terminal complex consisting of Terminal 1 (T1) and the much larger Terminal 2 (T2). Terminal 2 is a modern, high-capacity facility that handles the majority of the airport's domestic and international passenger traffic, while Terminal 1 has been recently renovated to support specialized regional and low-cost operations. Inside the terminals, travelers will find an extensive array of world-class amenities, including a vast selection of duty-free and retail shops, numerous dining options ranging from traditional spicy Hunanese cuisine to international brands, and multiple premium lounges for eligible passengers. Operational capacity at Changsha Huanghua is anchored by two significant paved runways, with the primary runway measuring 3,200 meters and the newer second runway (18R/36L) extending 3,800 meters, which is capable of handling large wide-body aircraft such as the Boeing 777 and Airbus A350. Navigating through the airport is facilitated by clear signage and efficient transport links, including a high-speed maglev line that connects the airport directly to the Changsha South Railway Station in just 19 minutes.
