Canyonlands Regional Airport (CNY)

Canyonlands Regional Airport (CNY/KCNY) is the primary aviation gateway to southeastern Utah, serving the world-famous outdoor recreation destination of Moab. Located approximately 30 kilometers northwest of the city center, the airport provides essential air access for tourists visiting Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, and the surrounding red rock wilderness. It has undergone a major expansion in recent years, including a complete terminal reconstruction and runway lengthening, to accommodate larger regional jets and the increasing number of travelers to the region.

The new passenger terminal building is a modern and visually striking facility that reflects the natural beauty of the Utah desert. Inside, travelers will find a unified departures and arrivals hall, multiple check-in counters for regional carriers such as Contour Airlines and United Express, and a streamlined security checkpoint. Amenities at the terminal include high-speed Wi-Fi, clean restroom facilities, and several comfortable lounge areas with panoramic views of the surrounding mesas. While the on-site dining and retail options are focused on basic travel needs, the terminal provides a high-quality and professional environment that significantly enhances the arrival experience in Moab.

Operational capacity at Canyonlands Regional is supported by a primary paved runway (03/21) measuring approximately 2,243 meters (7,360 feet) in length, which is capable of handling most modern regional jets and large corporate aircraft. Navigation through the terminal is exceptionally straightforward due to its compact and logical layout. For ground transportation, several car rental agencies have a presence in the terminal, and taxi or shuttle services are readily available to transport passengers to the city of Moab or directly to the national park entrances. Travelers are encouraged to book their ground transportation in advance, particularly during the busy spring and fall adventure seasons.
