Bengbu Tenghu Airport (BFU)

Bengbu Tenghu Airport (BFU) is a newly developed domestic aviation hub serving the city of Bengbu and the wider northern Anhui Province in China. Replacing the city's older dual-use military facility, the brand-new airport in Huaiyuan County is set to become fully operational in 2025. The facility features a state-of-the-art passenger terminal building spanning over 26,000 square meters, designed to handle an annual throughput of approximately 1.8 million passengers. The airport's contemporary architecture incorporates energy-efficient glass facades and a spacious, naturally lit interior, establishing it as a primary gateway for the region's expanding industrial and high-tech sectors. The new terminal is organized across two primary levels to streamline the passenger journey for domestic travelers. The ground floor manages arrival processes, featuring modern automated baggage claim carousels and a centralized transportation hall. The upper floor serves as the main departures hub, housing 11 check-in counters and a high-capacity security screening zone. The facility is equipped with six fixed boarding bridges and 11 Category C aircraft stands, accommodating a variety of narrow-body jets common to Chinese regional carriers. The airport's infrastructure also includes a dedicated 1,200-square-meter cargo terminal, reflecting its role as a logistical center for the Huai River valley. Amenities at the new Tenghu terminal are comprehensive, featuring a variety of dining options from local Anhui-style cafes to international snack bars. The terminal includes a dedicated commercial area with retail boutiques offering regional specialties, newspapers, and travel essentials. For premium travelers, the upper level houses comfortable VIP lounges equipped with workstations and refreshments. Ground transportation is well-integrated with a 10,000-square-meter dedicated parking lot and a fleet of airport shuttle buses that provide rapid connections to downtown Bengbu, located approximately 20 kilometers to the southeast. The facility is also equipped with modern passenger care rooms, including dedicated mother and child facilities and accessible restrooms throughout the building.
