This exclusive facility serves almost exclusively as the arrival and departure point for guests staying at Arathusa Safari Lodge and other associated private lodges within the reserve. It consists of a well-maintained dirt or gravel runway, purpose-built to accommodate light charter aircraft and small bush planes, providing direct access to the heart of the wilderness. This arrangement allows for seamless transfers from major hubs like Johannesburg directly into the safari experience.

Operational procedures at ASS are highly personalized and informal. There are no traditional terminal buildings, security checkpoints, or baggage claims. Guests are typically met directly at the aircraft by their dedicated safari guide and game viewer vehicle.
