Ambatolhy Airport (AHY)

Ambatolahy (AHY) is a small rural airstrip serving the Ambatolahy area of Madagascar. Facilities consist of a single basic terminal hut adjacent to the runway, supporting charter and occasional scheduled regional services when operating. Check‑in is handled at a simple counter or directly by the operator; passengers board on foot across the apron, and arriving baggage is returned by hand in the same small building.

The layout is minimal and highly walkable. From drop‑off to the terminal is less than a minute, and from the terminal to the aircraft is typically a 30–60 second walk depending on stand position. There are no buses, jet bridges, or transfers—everything is ground‑level with very short walking distances.

Domestic security screening, when applied, is conducted at the entrance to the departures room and is usually a brief process given the light schedule. There are no immigration or customs facilities on site; international formalities for any onward itinerary are completed at major hubs such as Antananarivo (TNR).

Amenities are very limited: basic seating, restrooms when staffed, and occasionally a kiosk for water or snacks coinciding with flight times. There are no lounges or retail shops, and Wi‑Fi is typically unavailable. Ground transport is by pre‑arranged vehicles through local accommodations or drivers; there is no formal taxi stand.

Accessibility is step‑free at the terminal entrance and across the forecourt; staff can assist passengers with reduced mobility. Family facilities are minimal—bring baby supplies and snacks, as there are no on‑site shops.
