Ahe Airport (AHE)

Ahe Airport (AHE) is a small regional airfield on Ahe Atoll in French Polynesia, served primarily by Air Tahiti. Facilities consist of a single, simple terminal building adjacent to the runway with an open, island‑style design. Check‑in is handled at a small counter area, with passengers proceeding directly to the single departure room before boarding on foot across the apron. Arrivals exit into the same compact building where baggage is delivered in close proximity to the public area.

The layout is minimal and extremely easy to navigate. From the drop‑off area to check‑in is usually under 1 minute. From check‑in to the boarding area takes roughly 1–2 minutes, and the walk from the terminal to the aircraft is typically 30–60 seconds, depending on stand position. There are no buses, jet bridges, or transfers—everything is at ground level with short walks.

As a domestic outstation, AHE does not provide TSA‑style security screening for most departures and does not have immigration or customs facilities. Security is informal and consistent with local regulations for inter‑island flights. International border formalities, when required for a journey, are completed at larger hub airports in Tahiti (PPT) or other designated points.

Amenities are very limited. Expect basic seating, restrooms, and sometimes a small kiosk when flights are operating; there are no lounges, duty‑free shops, or extensive dining options. Mobile coverage and Wi‑Fi can be inconsistent. Ground transport is arranged directly with local guesthouses or by pre‑booked transfers; there is no formal taxi rank.
