Connecting to and from Malamala Airport is a highly organized and exclusive service, primarily facilitated by Federal Air's daily shuttle flights from O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg. These flights are specifically for guests of MalaMala and other nearby luxury lodges. When booking your international flights into Johannesburg, it is crucial to allow sufficient time for the connection. The recommended minimum connection time is 2 hours for domestic arrivals at JNB and 3 hours for international arrivals, as you will need to clear immigration and customs before proceeding to the Federal Air departure lounge.\n\nBaggage restrictions on these smaller shuttle aircraft are strictly enforced. Passengers are typically limited to 20kg (44 lbs) per person in a soft-sided bag. Excess luggage can be stored securely at Federal Air's facility at O.R. Tambo for a nominal fee. This is a critical point to consider when packing, as large, hard-shell suitcases may not be accepted on the flight.\n\nTransfers between MalaMala and other nearby private airstrips or the larger Skukuza Airport (SZK) can also be arranged via private air or road charter, but these must be booked well in advance through the reserve's reservations department.
