Owned and operated by the Antonov State Enterprise, the airport has long served as the primary hub for Antonov Airlines, one of the world's leading heavy-lift cargo carriers. The airport gained worldwide recognition as the home base of the Antonov An-225 Mriya, the largest and heaviest cargo aircraft ever built.
