For most travelers, the functional gateway to this region is Chisinau International Airport (KIV). Connecting between Bălți and Chisinau is best accomplished via the country’s developed road network. Hourly bus and shuttle services, such as those operated by GAL Trans, provide a direct link between Bălți city and Chisinau Airport, with the journey typically taking between 90 minutes and 2.5 hours. Alternatively, the drive via the M5/E583 expressway covers approximately 145 kilometers and offers a straightforward transit through the Moldovan countryside.

Chisinau International Airport (RMO) is Moldova's main international airport, located about 13 km southeast of central Chisinau.
The airport has two concrete runways: 08/26 at about 3,590 m and 09/27 at about 2,383 m, and 2025 passenger traffic exceeded 6 million.
The current terminal dates to the 1970s and was renovated in 1999-2000; the IATA code changed from KIV to RMO on January 18, 2024.
