Kempegowda International Airport (BLR), operating under ICAO code VOBL, serves as the primary aviation gateway for Bengaluru, India's renowned Silicon Valley, and ranks among the busiest and most technologically advanced airports in the country. The airport currently operates two major facilities: the original Terminal 1 (T1) and the stunning new Terminal 2 (T2), famously known as the 'Terminal in a Garden.' A critical tip for travelers is the inter-terminal transfer. A complimentary shuttle bus operates 24/7 between T1 and T2 every 10 to 15 minutes. While the bus ride itself takes only 10 minutes, you should allow at least 30 to 45 minutes for the entire transfer process, including exiting the terminal, waiting for the bus, and re-entering the next facility. If your flights are on separate tickets, you must collect your luggage and transfer it yourself via the shuttle.
For international arrivals connecting to domestic flights, you must clear immigration and customs at BLR if it is your first point of entry into India. This process typically takes 30 to 60 minutes during peak banks (early morning and late night), so a minimum connection time of 3.5 to 4 hours is recommended.
